Mr. Anderson, or Bill, was Charlie's advanced English teacher, and the first friend he made in high school. He was portrayed by actor Paul Rudd.
During Charlie's freshmen year, Bill assigned him many books to read and write essays on. Also, Charlie would come to Bill for advice on participation, which Bill strongly wants Charlie to do.
Bill is also a writer, and once wrote a play that was on broadway. It was also said that his favorite book when he was Charlie's age was The Catcher in the Rye.
It is revealed that he attended Brown University, and traveled Europe before he taught in America. Bill was also planning on moving to New York to write plays, but he decided to stay and teach and continue to give Charlie books.
Bill is very kind to Charlie, and believes in him. He also encourages Charlie to participate and have fun in life.
